A game of chess

I beat a deaf guy at Chess yesterday. I'm so proud of meself. Here's the reason why I think it is a thing to be proud of. Chess is a game about concentration ain'it? Chess is one game where normal guys like me play with a handicap when matched up against a deaf opponent.

chess

When you are deaf, you won't have stupid distractions like
  • The TV.
  • Stupid dogs tearing up your flip-flops because you left them out?
  • Cars on the road
  • Birds outside.
  • The wind.
  • The rain.
  • Sounds of people in the kitchen.
  • Sounds of people in the shower.
  • Sounds of people in the loo.
  • Mobile Phones.
  • People talking to you.
  • People wanting to talk to you on the phone.
  • The sound of your opponent breathing.
See? I had to cope with all that in one game while the deaf guy gets perfect silence. How fair is that?? But its ok I only dropped one game out of 5 and that was because I was distracted with lunch. I'm the greatest! Go Me!

I apologise if my words offend any hearing challenged people.
I am not prejudiced against any handicapped people and I don't think myself superior.
It is just hard to be politically correct and write in short sentences.

7ven Thoughts on Dislike

This is an email discussion between 7venians on one statement that May found intriguing from yanaung's blog. Inn...thu yae, direct post link bal gyoung yout twar lal ma ti lo link ma pay nine taw buu. Just posted the discussion here for your amusement.

May:
Di sar pite ko bal lo myin par ta lal. Don't tell me ...Square blocks lay tway lo myin tal lo lar ma pyaw nal.
I want your opinions on that.
It says:
Lu ta yout ko, ma nhit myo buu so yin tong, aal dar ko ma paw lwin say ya buu.
Dar har, yin kyay tame mway mhu ta khu pal.

Phwe:
I AGREE with it. U stay distance from that person. U dotn go to their face n say it, if u do u r the one with a PROBLEM.
may, did i tel u the person i dotn like?:D paw kone pyi nae tu tae:P hehe;)

May:
You are saying...you stay distance...what if you cannot stay away from the person for some reason?
In that case, how will you manage ur dislike against that person? Will you still hide it and smile that the person?
Won't that be faking? Won't that be lying?

Ma nhit myo tar ko, hlyo wha htar ya mhar lar?
Dar so yin, nin harr, koe ko ko yaw, tu myar ko yaw, lame nyar nay tar pal, han soun nay tar pal.
Han soun mhu kinn tal, yin kyay tame mway swar, ma nhit myo mhu ta khu ko, bal lo lote yuu ya ma lal?

Phwe:
lol who is that person u dotn like? sounds like u have trouble dealing it, ma nint myoe yin" "throw UP " LOL:P. anyways

May:
It's just a statement that I find it quite unsatisfying and trying to bring up the discussion. I'm cool with everyone tal main ma ;)
If i dislike someone then it's very obvious to myself as well as the rest of the world that I dislike that person ha`ha`.
May b I'm impolite in letting other knows about it. But I'm truthful to myself and everyone.
So yah...I still don't like that statement, I think I should "throw up".

Vince:
May,
Who you dont' like so far ? hahahhaha
I think this passage is the view from the bright sight. I am sort of agree on it. Because people have their own perosnality. You can dislike him/her from any point of view, as long as he/she is not borthering or disturbing you . As long as you are not offense them. You can still criticise them, judge them, evaluate them, in your own, but dont' bring it out ,expecially if that person is not close to you . People have their own valuae and standard. You dont' want to be them and you are looking forward not to be them if they are lower than you. Make is short they breath with the own nose and eat with their own mouth. You dont' want to try changing ppls. It's more easier to change yourself in a good , better, best way.
C ya

May:
So what you're saying is "Ignorance is bliss"?? Just ignore them?
Not bad bro, I like your view on this. Thanks for your insight.

Vince:
Beside that you can save your energy to do important thing in your life. Another things is don't let them influence you. Mean you will have a bad mood after you had seen the ppls that you dont' like, if you dont' know how to ignore them and then they will ruin the rest of your precious days , weeks , months, years by someone that you dont' like...
take good care of yourself can share good thing to other.

Phwe:
Vince is sooo RIGHT!! Couldnt agree more to what he said:). If u go and tell that person" i dotn liek u" u the 1 with problem. Why would u tell some1 if u dont liek him/her when they r doing NO HARM to u!

Sometimes u think with ur HEAD. Personally, if i have a feeling i dot like some1, i woulnt even bother to "judge or critise" after all every1 is different rite.

Main ma, i hope u dont go and tell anyone off " i dont liek u:P". kidding;) I reckong, u will keep dreaming about that person unless u got to let him/her know that u dont like him/her lol. yes sometimes"ignornace is a bliss".

May:
Alrite alrite next time, I'll keep my mouth shut. You all smart arse impostors!!!.
So now I know you might be faking your friendship too.

According to my experience, I've told two of my senior developers to their face as well as in everyone present that I really despise and dislike them in one of the project we did together. They just laugh it off and said that they know about it. From then on, we had a better communication medium and more friendlier with me than before. Now they are my two best seniors and they also regard me as one of their truthful junior who they can ask for straight forward truthful answers to any project matters. My boss even acknowledge for me to say more like that so that the guys will move their arses. Well, actually he just "lu mite ngharr tar pot".

Anyway it's not that I disagree with your points, the thing is sometimes it's better to tell straight (for me atleast) than disliking the person secretly. So main ma, if you don't like me, I prefer you just say it to my face alrite? ;) Don't be a smarty impostor. So we know where we stand.

That statement is from one of many statements on yanaung.blogspot.com, I don't wanna discuss on his blog that's why I'm discussion with you. As always, my opinions came out the oddest.

I guess those who do not give their comments here are taking hold of that "IGNORANCE IS BLISS" as they motto.
Smarty Pants!!! I DONT LIKE YOU! there you go hahahha.

Inn... discussion lay ka taw di mhya par pal. Htet pyi a nyin pwar chin tay yin taw, comment htal mhar thar win pyaw pay taw.

Indian Engagement Party

Greetings,
How are you and how was your Saturday? Mine was a busy Saturday. Today I attended 3 different parties. In the morning we had lunch at our friend French+Burmese lady place. We had a taste of French foods, and a bit of their lifestyle. It was a nice little family lunch with them.

Then we went straight to another lunch at our friend Indonesian party. There were quite a lot of Indonesians, Europeans, Malaysians, Indians, Fijians, Austrians, Americans and of course us, Burmese. Lots of people and lots of food but we can’t eat no more cos’ we already had our lunch with our French friends. Came back home around 4pm, and went to take a nap for a while with full stomach then at 6:30pm I went to my work colleague’s engagement party.

This was the first time I been to Indian engagement party. They had a nice little crowd with families and friends from both sides. Both the guy and the gal are from our company and most of our team attended the party. They had this prayer and then sign the papers. Then they become legally married. I got confused cos’ that’s suppose to be engagement and how come they signing the legal marriage document and stuffs but I found out that most of the Indians legally married (sign the doc) on their engagement day. Wedding day is just to celebrate the engagement later on or…yah something like that, not quite sure.

Anyway luckily I took my camera and took some photos of them. They seem nice couple and our colleague looked very happy with his newly wedded wife. We had some Indian sweets and some kind of juice, I’m not sure what but taste somewhat like strawberry or something. I dump and spilled some juice on my camera and my dress while I was rushing to take photos. Yah I know I always messing myself. This party was at the gal’s place and the two families exchange gifts or rather the guy’s side give some gift to the gal. Can’t see what though cos’ it was cover with cloth on the tray. Food? Jewels? Hehe who knows!

Ok let's sign. I now pronounce...you are legally married. :-? something like that...I forgot!

Show me the RINGGGG!!!

Then as usual they exchange rings, cut cake and feed each other. The gal was very happy with her ring that she couldn’t help holding her hand up. So I decided to take a good photo of her ring and her bangles. Do you every Indians like wearing lots and lots of bangles. She wore a lot too.

Now the CAKE!!!

Mine all mine!!! Dont bite my fingers!

We had vegetarian Indian dinner with some Puri, Palau, and some curries. I had a hard time eating with hand cos’ I wasn’t use to that and I couldn’t wash my hand plus I got long finger nails. Luckily a man came to offer us some spoon later on, so I gladly wipe my hand and switch to spoon. Strangely enough they didn’t play Indian music at all. They all busy talking themselves and ofcos the “Kava/Yaqona” (Fijian traditional drink - pounded roots of some tree mixed with water) for men. I wasn’t sure what else to do after eating so I called home to pick me up and yah I came home around 9:30pm.

A Trip Back Home: The Temple, The Missed, The Trick, & The Goodbye

The Temple
This was the day Phwe going back to Melbourne. She said her flight was at 6pm in the evening so we had time the whole morning. We went to Granville again to visit Buddhist temples. We took Phwe again to guide us with the train ride. This time we got there quite alright, though we made mistake with the turning in the Granville station exit to meet our friends.

It was about 30 min drive to get to the first Buddhist temple. They had 4 days long meditation center and it was the last day finishing off. We prayed along with them (yaw gii) and I found it very strange that they prayed very different (Aww Gar Tha) from most of us and those people in Burma. They got extra verses and they cut off some parts. I had a hard time following their “Aww Gar Tha”.

Prayers at Buddhist Temple
Aw gar tha, aw gar tha…amm hmm
I couldn’t follow aussie “aw gar tha” :(

Another amusing as well as shocking thing I found out there was, this old lady of mid 50s saying in “Burglish”, commenting about the Buddha statue. She said “Fayar looks so slim” to a man beside. I was like “huh, the what!” Did she just compare the Buddha statue with those slimy stick models?? The usage just wasn’t right. If it was plain comment then why can’t she just say that all in Burmese or full English, “Fayar SinHtuTaw ka nal nal pane/tay ta lo pal” or “the statue seems abit thin” etc. But “Fayar looks so slim” no no just not right and so awful to hear (to my ears).

At Buddhist Temple
Oh so this is a house with garage turned into temple. Nice.

I looked at her and observed that she looked quite educated, decent looking lady with a bit of knowledge on religious values after all she came to the temple. I was thinking to myself, what ever happen to respects and proper way of addressing with those people. Well you might argue that people forget things when they stay long overseas but I was sure she didn’t rise up all her life in Australia. I’m not saying if someone my ages saying like that, but she was old lady for god sake! You should hear the way she said, it was like some small kids asking nonsense to adults for answers kind of thing. My understanding was we don’t normally comment about such things and only say general comment to the statue carver on his design, so it was so strange for me to hear that comment.

We had “FoneGyiKyung” lunch there and was really nice to taste some Burmese cooking. After that we left for another temple close by. Our friend warned about “SayarDaw” (the monk) short term memory lost and we need to speak up while we talk to him. We met two monks in that temple who were quite friendly and asked us some questions. As our friend warned, the SayarDaw really have short term memory lost and we had to keep repeating things to him. We donated some “a hlau ngwe” to both “SayarDaw” and pray there. I noticed the main SayarDaw had very distinguished way of saying prayers, somewhat similar to Indian humming style, where else the second SayarDaw prays as the way we used to hear back in Burma. Later I found out that the main SayarDaw studied and got his degree from India. Hmm no wonder he talked different! :) We were so glad that we could donate in both temple and said good prayers.
I remembered about Konyi’s request and did said “A mhya, a mhya” and said “Thar Du” three times for him. :P

The Missed
We left my mom with her friends and went back town to prepare for Phwe departure. When we got to the apartment, Phwe did some packing and checked her flight time. Then she noticed the problem with her flight schedule and realized that she misread the time. It was in military time stating 0600 hr which is to be that morning 6:00am but she was thinking 6:00pm in the evening. When we realized Phwe missed the flight, both of us got shocked and called MaJain for help. When Jain arrived, we contact to the flight center and they confirmed the miss and nothing we could do about it. I was so sad to see Phwe’s small red face and she lost her voice there.

As usual, sisterly & our heroine MaJain came to rescue with great idea. We called Phwe’s sis, Ma Nilar, informing the missing flight and got a bit of scolding from her. The an idea hit to our great minds, not to tell the truth to Phwe’s parents and let them know that we want Phwe to stay for a night more and let her go back the next day. We called Ma Nilar again to tell the plan and begged her from telling back to the parents.

The Trick
With great anxiousness, we planned what we were going to say and made a call to PNG. Phwe talked with her Dad for a while about hello, hi stuffs then let MaJain talk with her mother. MaJain was a very polite, smooth talker and did amazing job persuading the parents. We didn’t mention about the problem at all. We said thank and how wonderful of them to let Phwe come down to Sydney, how we all had so much fun and how we like her to stay for one more night.

Well, I know we were bad bad girls but that was the only option we’ve left with. Lucky enough Phwe’s parents didn’t ask about how she going to go back and let her stay for one more day. It was so much relieving after we hung up, then only we all can laugh and said how silly we were with sheepish smiles. Finally I made a call to my mom and let her know the situation. She was blaming me for my ignorance of not reminding Phwe to check the time. Well…what done was done and nothing we could do about it but we all got something to remember and ofcos’ for me, another piece for my journal. :p

We bought bus ticket for Phwe and went out for dinner. We were so lucky when Ma Christ called to meet us at Darling harbor. She also was one of our friends from PNG and we were so lucky to meet her there. We also met her brother and took some photos together. While we were talking, MaJain brother and his friend came along and we chatted there for hours then we came back for the night.
That was a hard day after all. Zz..zzZ.ZzZZZZ.

The Goodbye
The next day we do some roaming around in town as usual and went to sing again as Phwe very much like to do so. At 7:00pm we say goodbye to Phwe and she left for Melbourne.

A Trip Back Home : The Train Ride, The Singer, The Beach & The Surprise

The Trian Ride
The next day we decided to pay a visit to a friend’s place. They told us to take a train to Granville. We took a train from central station and had to ride for hours and finally found out that we were on the wrong train and it’s going to totally way off places. We messed up with the map and the color lines so we had to come back to Stretfield station and wait for our friends to pick us there by car. It was the first train ride experience to us and what a ride we been through. We got big headache after that and thank god we finally meet our friends. They took us to Burmese shop and we had our lunch there. I left my mom with those friends and phwe, jain n I took off our own roaming around back in town.

Granville Station
Mom and her friend at Granville station.

The Singer
We did mainly window shopping and sight seeing. Then jain took us to karaoke shop since we got a great singer along with us. The great phwe sings for 3 hrs non-stop. I scream for a few songs and lost my voice. Jain listened the whole time or rather felt sleepy beside while she act so cheerful with all. We got 3 bottles of juice and I drank up 1 whole while jain drunk 2 and the main one, phwe, who singing non-stop didn’t even take a sip. We were surprised at her with how much she could sing and her amazing voice.
I guess that day was wasted a lot riding the wrong train. Zz..zzz..ZZZ..Z

The Beach: Long Reef
The next day was a day out with sein since jain got work in the morning. He called us around 10am and took us to Long Reef beach for sight seeing. To my dismay, there is no good sight to see except water, sand and stones. Well, I was expecting my kind of sight seeing. Where were all those aussie bikini guys? I only found old men in bikinis with big tummies showing. Where all those six packs go?? LOL I see either too old or too young kids with lovely dogs. Nevertheless, I enjoyed walking along the beach and took some good shots there.

Long Reef 1
Long Reef 2
Long Reef 3
Long Reef Beach Sences.

It was so hot walking under the sun and very selfish Sein, who brought water bottle, never thought of sharing. Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink.
Only when Jain called to check how things were and when I complained about that to her then he pointed the water fountain ahead where I could take a drink.

7venians at Long Reef Beach
7venians at Long Reef Beach (L-R: Sein, Phwe, Myself, Mom)

Sein took us to McDonald for lunch and he was in a hurry to go back to his business as he already had plans for that evening. We were so disappointed to hear that since we, gals, made some plan for that evening. We, especially Phwe, couldn’t even talk on the way back but finally we decided to make it happen to some extent.

The plan we(Phwe and I) thought up way before coming to Sydney was to throw water at Jain and Sein the night before we leave. Phwe will be leaving the next day and we planned for movie at night then let Jain and Sein wait for a while to throw water at them, put some Ooe Maee at them and I would take a good shot of them soaking we in the chilling Sydney weather. :p Just want to have some remembrance for Thingyan.

The Surprise
Since Sein couldn’t be with us that evening, we just have to throw water before he leave. We let him wait for his present and came back with some coke and coffee cups filled with water to throw at him. I wasn’t sure he knew what inside those cups but he did act shocked and laughed at us saying that was good one and would pay back one day. I couldn’t take photo nor out Ooe Maee to Sein but we had to satisfy with what we could do.

In that evening Jain took us for one good dinner and movie. We all felt bad about not able to take four of us photo. Anyway the movie was quite enjoyable and we were trying our best not to let Jain sleep through it since we knew she has a habit of sleeping in the cinema.

When we came back to the apartment, it was quite cold night and we again let her wait for her present and threw water at her but she was so lucky/smart that she got drinking water bottle in her hand and threw back at us. Of course, we got wet too and it was such a cracking in front of WakeUp with water everywhere and some people watching us in amaze thinking what was wrong with this three crazy gals.

MaJain Got Splashed.
MaJain Got Splashed!

Oh yes, I took a shot of Jain there LOL. Poor MaJain, had to go back home wet and cold that I felt so sorry for her. But then we could only bully her like that once in …??……time that she had to excuse with us. :D I hoped she didn’t catch cold the next day.
That night I couldn’t sleep much cos’ I was thinking about the whole day and laughing to myself.

PS. I found out Majain to be very polite, soft talker, generous and very caring nature and I respected her ever more for that. To my surprise, Sein did amazing job of talking in Burmese with my mom.(not with us!) I never expected he could talk Burmese that much. Oh he didn’t get a slang and had to explain to him though. ;)

A Trip Back Home (25th March - 10th April): The Flight, The Meetings & The Walk

As you all know I’ve taken a 1.5 week long trip to Myanmar and also visited Sydney for a few days. It was such a great experience for me because I never been to Sydney before and it’s been 5 yrs since I last visited Myanmar. I was looking forward for this trip and finally it happened.

My friends and I have planned this since last year that we could meet in Sydney for holiday and started saving $$. I was so glad we could accomplish the plan and finally met. I profoundly thank dear sis Phwe for coming down to Sydney from Melbourne to meet all of us and dearest Majain for being such a splendid hostess and also thank KoSein for taking time to meet us all plus for McChicken ;)

I’ve decided to write a little journal on my trip and here are some of the remembrances actions from my trip.

I left Suva on 24th Mar 05 (good Fri) evening and spent a night in Nadi, MelanesianHotel before taking 8:30am flight to Sydney the next morning. Just before I left hotel I text to Jain and Sein to warn about my coming so that they could beware of their worst nightmare. Strangely enough our flight number is FJ911 and Sein must have done some cursing on it that we got big problem when we landed to Sydney. The plane got hydraulic leakage and had to remain on the run way for almost 2 hrs before the passengers were picked up by bus to the airport terminal. We then had to wait for another 2 hrs for our luggage to be brought in to the airport. We met one Indian man from fj and using his mb I sent a txt to MaJain letting her know of the situation. She was so kind and patient enough to wait such a long time for us.

After we got out of the custom and I was finally able to meet the one and only dearest MaJain for the first time. She was so welcoming and gave me a big hug. She was much cuter than in her photos. My mom was relieved to find her waiting for us since she didn’t trust my online friends who I never met before to do the pick up.

We had our late lunch in the airport and waiting for Phwe’s flight in the evening. During 2 hrs of waiting, mom and MaJain chat about stuffs, mainly gossip about me and I was so disappointed to hear no good things of me coming out of the conversation. I’m sure MaJain have known about my whole lifeand habits in that 2 hrs time.

Yah gossip about me!
Yah gossip about me!
Mom & Jain in action non-stop gossip for 2 hrs.

About 6 o’clock we took a train to domestic terminal and wait for Phwe. She didn’t recognize me, she looked at me then turned away. Only when I blocked her and took a big shot of her then she realized that’s me and say big hello.

The first look of Phwe
Oops what the! Heyy!
Phwe first impression when I took a shot at her.

It was so good to see her and she looked different from her photos, I think she look more mature and act mature also. For some minutes she didn’t talk much only yes no stuffs, I guess she just not use to us yet, then she did speed up and we joked and laughed all the way to MaJain house. Jain was so much ashamed to show us her place saying it’s a mess but it wasn’t and really good to visit her place. Her brothers were nice and helpful. The elder one dropped us to Wake Up apartment where we be staying for the next few days.

WakeUp Apartment, 509 Pitt Street, Syd
This is where we stayed for a week, Wakeup apartment, 509 Pitt St, Syd.

After we checked in at the apartment, we left our luggage and then left to meet KoSein. Was a bit looking forward to check him out since I heard that guy is very “pae myar” Well… as expected he walkout very very “pae myar” walking with hands in pant and the way he walk!...those gangster style! (myat si htal mhar, dount ma kyo).

I shall remember that Sein Sote never said hello nor welcome us to syd. The
only thing he said was “I’m starving!”

Noted walking styles
Different walking styles of my 3 friends. (L-R: Jain, Sein, Phwe)
Interesting aren't they? :P

They took us to China town for dinner and I was amazed by the noises, the crowd and the ringing of bells. It was a good dinner though I couldn’t finish it, I enjoyed drinking up all soups. Dear old August called us and said he’s swimming in the middle of the night in that freezing cold weather. We thought he must be crazy but then he always do such strange things that we were used to with his silly ways. LOL

We all had really full stomach and decided to talk a walk to opera house. Oh yah the great gambler Sein tried to take us to Casino on the way, but we couldn’t enter there since Phwe is under age and didn’t bring her ID. I’ve noticed Sein’ve done a good job on Jain that she also becoming a gambler and I heard Sein calling her the master mind now. LOL.

We finally got to Opera house and the night view is ah… dark! :P I tried to take photos of Opera house as well as the Harbor bridge but it was too dark that I couldn’t get any good photos of those. So sad, I was so much planning to get hold of that two place photos. ?

Since my mom got sore kneels, she decided not to climb the stairs of Opera house. Jain and Sein accompanied her down below and only Phwe and I went up. It was very later around 11pm and the place is deserted with a few security guards. The atmosphere up there is really good hence we decided to sit in the middle of big floor just for a few minute and stared at the clear Sydney sky and feel the gentle cool breeze. Dear phwe was thinking of how wonderful the feeling and the inspirations there to write her famous poems about her someone*:P:P

It was such a long walk and we didn’t notice how much we walked sincewe were all talking and laughing at each other. I think we walked for over three hours. We only noticed the worst pain in our feet on our walk back and got the whole body aching, especially the feet, when we sleep.

The very first day of my trip ends here.
Phwweeeeeewwwwww!! What a day!

Developer Diary 2: The Action and the categories

Chapter 2: The Action and the categories
I got a few categories listed down in my note book. I been rechecking with my ability to bring them in real action. Some I can’t, I’m thinking way ahead of my ability so crossed those out. This is the third tried list of categories. Hopefully should be the final one.

Got some sections namely,
  • about us,
  • music,
  • literature,
  • talk
  • news
  • contact
  • sitemap
I got only poem and writing/story sections in my head b4 for the literature section but now I got some comic books from a good friend and think I’ll share with all my friends. We are too old for those but still whoever interested can read through. For me I’ll love them always.

Well we surely can’t handle music and can’t publish all the music files we got. No space!!! So what I have in mind is only publish the songs 7venians requested or whoever requested. That way we save the space as well as creating some kind of communication between the visitors.
Hmmmm to process the requests, I need some helpers on that. I know gonna be really pain to ask some ppl. CRAP I hate begging!!

I need help. HELP HELP HELP!!! Second thought, I’m gonna waste hell lotta time asking them and explaining them and waiting for replies and the result, I’m sure, not even 50% “Yes” from them. So trash them all, let me try myself!!!!!!!

G7.

Developer Diary

Chapter 1: The decision and the best choice

- The scope has been written with all the requirements defined.
- Sketched on the layout and started CSS structure.
- Created logo and choose the images to go with it. The color scheme has always been hardest to decide on and ofcos the font type.
- Decided to stick on with black-n-white scheme, lots of red, blue and yellow been used elsewhere with many logo design out there, so let me just go further form that 3 color.
- Collected all the necessary images to apply in the site. I hate this part, take me too long to view images, choose images and download enlarged images. Need to chop things up later.
- Asked the members their favorite things.
# Nyi – Money (got the pic successfully)
# Jain – Water(she said stream water but can’t find good stream water so givin her ocean water.)
# Phwe – jasmine/ rose (can’t find good jasmine so rose would do fine for her.)
# myself - thinking of choosing red flower, can’t find the clear image for
logo. Alrite forget the flower. Let me be the Key – the key to your heart?? ;)
haha)
# Sein – crap sein! Never cooperate. Forget it! Give him the default logo and
setting.
# Aug – he too clueless but tried to look for maths equations but can’t find the pic I want. Nvm you too take default logo n setting.
# Melay – According to her profile, her fav color is yellow and found the perfect yellow pics for her but then since she’s in love, I would give her heart/love symbolized pics.
- Ok now the main theme, I love birds, I found nice pics on them. The feathers look so cool. Littke green birds look cute, yep u guys will be on our main page.
- For the featured image, I tried to give Sein with syd bridge/building but don’t think such a good idea. He should himself. Alrite since I choose the chess theme for About Us section, it suits him fine.
- Rite I got melay, the diamond heart. Looks alrite to me. Got chocalate hearts too but too childish. Melay gotta be mature young lady. So diamond heart would suit her so fine.
- So dear diary, I think I stop here for a day. See you soon.

Same-Old, Brand-New…Exam dilemma.

Hey guys,

I just thought of what to write. Since this is an exam seasons for most of students around the world, I’m gonna share some of my exam experiences with ya. Here’s how it go…

ARRRGHH!!! I can’t breath, can’t sleep, can’t eat, can’t sit, can’t shit, can’t stand, can’t pee, can’t wee (enough!) …something big blocking in my tummy. Exam! Exam! Exam!

May - FSLC 1999:
About two months before exam:
So mad’m, my points reach enough for this essay? How many choices can we make in section B? Any tips and tricks writing 5 essays in Bio? Result of dominant over recessive genes cross would be…I think crocodile is under reptiles…

Sir! Could you explain me again on this problem? Which law shall I use? Boyle’s law or Charles’s law? Maganet move faster or stronger as you increase the distance? Horizontal velocity of ¾ momentum throw would be…

Mad’m do you think the ghost forced hamlet to take revenge on the uncle? I don’t think it’s fair to let him die. Kindhearted and fearless Androcles, he had no idea how his act of kindness over the poor lion will save his life one day… So that owl really predicted the future of young Mark…wonder how it called out his name…

I think this compound would oxidize to give out yellow color and sweet smell ashes. My chemical equation not balancing yet, I think I forgot to add one hydrogen atom in left side.
Integration is reverse of differentiation so I replace x with power of 2 rite? Am I missing something in this standard deviation graph? Which method is the shortest to solve quadrative equations? Probability of 2/5 would make up to… how many tallies again? Gosh I missed count, get the mode first.

Hey shall we swap your 97 Bio paper with my 98 Chem? Can I borrow your 96 Maths paper for a day?

2 weeks before exam:
Are you still up? I saw the light, it’s almost 2, better sleep gal. Yah I’m half asleep, half awake, don’t worry, I slept in the evening.
Harrrrr no time to do dishes, I’m still half way with my chemistry.
Dad! Help me with my maths!! And my physic too!!! Don’t sleep yet, wake up!!

On the morning of the exam:
Don’t save any lunch for me, I don’t feel like eating. I think I want to pee but it won’t go eehehee!! I don’t know where I place my protractor and my calculator not working! RELEX!!! GO NOW!!! Okey okey! You don’t need to shout! Gosh mom!

30 minutes before exam:
Humm…hum…humm…dee…dee…darr…darr…(looking here, there, everywhere, gazing) Hey you seem so calm, got everything set aye? Sitting so relax with no book in front, with a set face hah? (On the stage) Hmmm may be…just clearing my mind, don’t wanna jumble up my brain. (Back stage) boom! Boom! Boom! Gulp glop gloop gulp gulp!! Tick tock, tick! Tock! (Siren glinnnnnnnnnnnn!!!) Time!!!

After the exam:
So how was it? What did you answer in that question? Hmmm ok I guess…hey don’t wanna discuss about answer, done it already, can’t change it, better not know right or wrong, otherwise have to think and feel about what you’ve done. What done is done, I’ll get the result later and I’ll see.

Mom I’m hungry!! How was the exam? Hah? Oh yah, fine. What just fine? Harr I answered all the questions, that’s all. I’m hungry!!!!!!!!

*******************
Aung - FSLC 2000:
About two months before exam:
What you doing? Don’t you think it’s time to do your revision? Hah? Exam very far, don’t worry, I’ll get to it.

3 weeks before exam:
I heard your sister say exam timetables are out. When is your exam? Which subject starting with? Where is that timetable of yours? Ah… somewhere in the bag, I’ll look for it later.

2 weeks before exam:
Where are your books? Text books? Ecercises books? Here here. That’s for what? English? Hmm no…you’re turning it from front, that’s eng…, turn from back, that’s phy, in the middle is chem., I think I draw my Tech Drawings in the other book together with my maths.
WHATTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WHOLE YEAR YOU GOT ONLY 2 BOOKS??? SLAP! SLAP! Bang!
MAY, BRING YOUR BOOKS HERE. LOOK AT HER BOOKS AND STUDY!!!
Can’t make out a thing from his books!
Look at the shape of the book too! Worse than used toilet paper!!!

1 week before exam:
(Bang! On the bed) It’s only 9:30, why you sleeping? study!!! Ahh aee hmmm grump…
5min later, go check you brother…mom he sleeping!!! Kick him hard!!! (KICK, SLAP, KNOCK, PUNCH”) (@#*!!%@&# grump grump…@!#@*%@ GO AWAYYY &!#@#!*%@&#!) GET UP or I’ll do it again!!! (“@#*!!%@&# grump grump…@!#@*% You Stupid!! @&!#@#!*%@&#!”)

Exam morning:
Wake up!! Where is your pens? Ruler? Get your drawing sets!! Calculator!! Rubber! No I don’t need it! Take it how do you plan to draw without having rubber and pencil? Quick! Finish your eating! Gosh! Can’t believe can eat that much before the exam!! GO GO you late already!! What’s the rush, I’m going, I’m going!

After the exam:
Hours after the exam, where is your brother? He should be home by now, his exam finished hours ago. Where have you been? How was it? Can you answer some of the questions at least? Can you get at least the passing marks? AND WHERE IN THE WORLD YOU BEEN!! I’m waiting here for you!! Olie’ too many questions!! Yah yah I’ll pass, been to library to borrow some story books, holiday now.
Hammmmmm (mom’s long hmmm)

Win - FSLC 2004:
About 3 months before exam:
Look at your sis, behaving very well, every wed she say prayers and fast, have you ever done that for once hah?
“…………”

She sleeps late and set up an early morning alarm, we don’t need to say anything, have you done that once hah?
“…………….”

Wow she meditates and “padee sate” everyday, what a clever daughter, have you two done that ever hah?
“…………………”

She preparing herself very well just need to control her nerve well enough, she’ll be ok. “……………..”

One month before exam:
Beep beeeeeeep beep taee teee teee beep! ARRRGGHHHH what the hell! What’s that noise?? Stop yelling, your sister’s alarm, you get up too. OH MY LORD!!!! I thought her alarm at 5am, it’s only 4am. Well she increases her time of early morning study. WHATEVER! My time is 7:30 so I’m sleeping.

Why is the TV off today? My fav show coming. Your sister reading and she off the tv. WHAT! She can read in her room, we gotta watch TV anyway. NO OFF IT!!, MOMMYYYY!!! (a yell from mom)
Crap! “…………”

Lar lar larrr dee dee darr darr…SHUT UP!!! I’m studying!! So what? I can’t even sing or talk loud these days! As if we have to be mute whenever you studying! You never be quiet when we are studying. DAD!!!!!!! (a yell from dad)
Damn!! “…………”

Who mess up my old books and papers??? Your sister was looking for the past papers. Why can’t she put other stuffs back properly? All in a mess now. The whole house covered with her books, in the room pile of books, on the table heaps, living cover with her books, dinner table packed with her books. Why cant she organize her study one then another so that all those books and papers wont flying around everywhere! Well she’ll clean that later, or you do it for her, you should help her you know that?.
Oops! “…………….”

Ring, ring… what, again? Who calling you now? How many times you been calling this, that, txting this, that, too much noises…I never use my mobile that much. Wasting money, when I was in secondary, I don’t even have mobile. You too much! DADDDDDDD!!!! (a yell from dad, she just calling her friends to discuss about exam stuffs, don’t bother her)
Whatever!! “…………….”

Two weeks before exam:
Gosh this is 2 wks before her exam, she cried 4 times already cos’ she got doubt with some questions from old papers and her teacher didn’t explain well…at home dad up whole night studying, explaining her. She follows his work and study there. She set her alarm to 2:30 am not and she slept at 12am, what in the name she doing I don’t know. Don’t ask me! Me nor my brother has done that. We not that crazy as her.

I’ve already missed my fav TV shows for many weeks now and can’t even talk near her. Just wanna kick her!!!! Arrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!! TOOO MUCHHH!!! I was planning to take picture of her books and papers everywhere in the house.

She studying that much and still nervous rack. Told her, I was so calm and cool with my exam and if she worry too much, she’ll forget all she knows, and she yell at me ‘SHUT UP’ then mom and dad would follow her and yell at me again ‘BE QUIET’ .
GOSH! “…………………”

Next week is her exam, think about how she acting these days. Every little thing she got stuck or doubt, she cries and call our daddy, mommy. If me and my brother make some joke out of her, she’ll yell her head off and followed by some shout from the other two.

Well out of all, she is very smart, she top the class, she got highest in all the subjects, she got 1st all the time, so yah she study hard and she deserve it. Me done my exam with ease and got above average grades. My brother done his exam with laze and he even beat me in some subjects, wonder how he did that, stupid, lazy, good for nuttin brother using all my books every year and getting better score than me!! Well now left with her. I’m sure she’ll be ok with her exam but she so nervous and sensitive and can’t control her emotions, she CRAZY. I just hope she doesn’t forget everything during exam and cry her head off just for small mistake.

I wish her all the best for next week exam. (The faster she finishes with that, the faster we’ll be free with her CRAZINESS)

BEST OF LUCK MY SISSY. Make us proud…

It was great reading ur "Friday Morning Memories" maywi. Everythign about "Thadingyut"just slipped my mind. I knew it was in October yeah, we should still value our traditions i suppose. Well, for me, i'm not originally burmese so my family dont celebrate ha. We do celebrate Nepalese festivals. I knw "Dawali" is in this month, mom and dad already phoned us about it and we have to do sth for the festival.

But i luv burmese festivals. Used to have a lot fun bk in mm at the time of special occasions. You made me think of my special frds bk home and how we use to play. I feel the same way as u do, i will always treasure those memories. We getting old and cant get bk those times. Well sis, you r who u r par as long as u cherish ur own culture, nth can influence you. Very good to hear those things from you. Should be proud of urself hehe.

i had more fun that u had i bet haha. It was very hard leaving mm, just thinking bk, make me feel sad. Hey, but we just have to move on. Doesnt mean we have to change our ways of living(behaviour and attitude as u mentioned) like how western ppl are.

See what makes you special, being who you are. I luv u for that:D.

Yeah,Friday here is such a rotten day, raining since the morning. Just finished maths exam. all wet and came bk awhile ago.

"HAppy belated thadingyut" par shin>>> to all of u.

Never we will forget such memories, ofcoz:)

Friday Morning Memories...

Good morning 7venians!!!!

Guess what! Today isssss FRIDAYYYYYY!!! So what ya guys doin? Hello exammers what ya up to?

Over here people doing quite a lot of shopping for Diwali (Indian light festival). Did u know/realize that Thadingyut has already passed? Gosh i didn’t even know, then a friend of us came to pay respect for granny at home then realizes wow it's Thadagyut!!! Been living overseas really slacken our traditional way of life, forget most of the seasonal festivals, beliefs and changed our whole attitude.

This time of the year back in our mother land, we would be visiting temples, pagoda and worship elders with gifts. My favorite part is go pay respect to elders with small gift and gets some pocket money in return, oh me bad!! :-D I remember those times, when my siblings and I gather to light up candles all over our compound and hanging pretty lamps over the veranda.

Playing with fireworks is the most joyful part of that season. Some of you might remember pushing the candle light bunny pushers which make funny “tat tat tat” noise all over the place, or lighting up the mercury pieces, when it grow bright, we hit with our shoes or slippers so that all the sparks fly out or rather blow up the noisiest crackers and argue over whose cracker make the most noise. Shooting the rocket firework up in the air is also my favorite part. I would scream and try to count how many sparks it makes in the air or wonder over the colors of its fuzzy form.

Just after the sunset in the starting of twilight, us three kids would pull down all the seats or benches from the house to the front yard, gather neighbor kids, our playmates, and started playing “Nyoung Pin Ta Say”(ghost of the old tree) , “A yuu ma gyi Ma Sar Oo” (crazy old lady), “Shew ZinYaw & Ma Htwe”, “Htote See Htoe” (tried to get to the other side by going through the blockers who are running along the lines) and all sort of our favorite games. Our parents would make “lat fat thote”, boiled sweet corn or seasonal foods and chat around the yard, those who love music would play their time favorite songs and some would sing along with the rhythm. We kids have had the time of their life while eating and playing under the beauty of full moonlight. Those were the priceless moments of my life.

Been here for more than 8 years, sometime make me forget those precious moments and traditions. May be I’m no longer a kid, may be we too busy with daily worries or may be we just no longer care or want to be part of our originalities. It is so heartbreaking to realize sometime that how we had changed over the years and how the western life style has taken control over our lives.

No matter how I changed or where I am, I would always remember those treasured moments back in my mother land. Wonder when or how I could ever have second chance to be in those moments again…This is all for now. My Friday started with Thindingyut memories and hope you remember something about your Thindingyut too.

Belated Thindingyut Greetings from me,
Gifted.
